How to Setup a Alpha XeDK at home

Requirements

  • PowerMac G5 7,2 2.0 Duel Processor A1047 PCI-X Model
    • PCI-X2 Model will only work with Alpha 2 Recoveries
  • 160GB Sata HDD
  • 2x - 256 3200mhz Ram Chips
  • Correct GPU
    • 9800PRO for Alpha 1
    • X800XT for Alpha 2
      • You are able to Flash a rom to the Corrent FireGL GPU
  • Ethernet Adapter, the Built in one does not work with XenonOS
  • Wired Xbox or Xbox 360 Controller, some later recoveries will use wireless USB adapter

Recommended PC Development System

The development system (the desktop computer you supply, on which you develop Xenon titles), should meet the following minimum or recommended configuration.

Minimum Configuration The following minimum development system configuration is required for use with the XDK.

  1. 1 GHz CPU
  2. 512 MB RAM
  3. 10 GB hard disk
  4. Microsoft® Windows® XP SP1
  5. ATI 3D accelerated video card, DX9-compatible, with 2.0 pixel shader and vertex shader support (used by some of the graphics and user interface development tools included with the XDK.)
  6. Ethernet network adapter
  7. USB 2.0

Recommended Configuration The following recommended development system configuration can fully utilize the capabilities of the XDK and will provide the best experience.

  1. 1 GHz CPU
  2. 512 MB RAM
  3. 10 GB hard disk
  4. Windows XP SP1
  5. ATI 3D accelerated video card, DX9-compatible, with 3.0 pixel shader and vertex shader support (when available)
  6. Ethernet network adapter
  7. Two USB 2.0 host controllers. Required when using DVD emulation and performance analysis tools simultaneously. For use with Xenon beta consoles only. (Alpha systems use Ethernet as the emulation transport.)
  8. Firewire port. Required for kernel debugging. For use with Xenon alpha systems only.

Other Recommended Hardware The following additional hardware is recommended for use with the XDK.

  1. HDTV-compatible television that supports a 16:9 aspect ratio, for viewing HDTV output
  2. Speakers and an amplifier that supports surround decoding, for audio development and testing
